Last night a Greenpoint coffee shop was transformed from a hipster hangout to a still-sort-of-hipstery-but-more-Midwestern cheesy wonderland for the Fifth Annual Casserole Party. There was duck, there was fish, there was pork, there were noodles and potatoes, and as usual, there was lots and lots and lots of cheese.

While there were many creative entries (e.g., Puddin’ in a Punkin’ in a Pyrex) only three casseroles could take home top honors—well, four, but only three could take home vintage casserole dishes provided by The Brooklyn Kitchen.

First Place:
A team with no name composed of Nick Suarez and Mark Kupasrimonkol for their duck confit combo made with “lots of duck fat”
Second Place:
The Hambones: Lia Koo and Stephan Ziff for their “spicy dish with fresh salad in the middle”
Third Place:
Team “Close” whose sole member Randi Greenberg made a deliciously cheesy Haddash Haddock
Honorable Mention:
Last year’s champion Theo Peck, along with teammate Ingrid Redman, returned to reclaim his title with an undeniably tasty Fried Chicken Dinner but didn’t place because the dish lacked a binding ingredient
Clearly, though, a good time was had by all:
