Save the Date for the 6th Annual Brooklyn Casserole Party
28 JulHey, casserole people. I’m happy to announce that yesterday (my last of a 12-day stretch in Brooklyn), I stopped by the new Brooklyn Kitchen/the Meat Hook space and settled on a home and a date for the 6th annual Casserole Party. The party will be Monday, October 25, 2010 at The Brooklyn Kitchen‘s beautiful Lab Number One.
It’s a lot bigger than our previous home at Brooklyn Label, which means we’ll have more room for entries this year. I’m going to allow up to 50 teams to enter.
Registration is not yet open, and I promise to post more details soon. But I will give up one little tidbit: one of the confirmed judges is…..
Another kind of one-dish dinner: the pot roast
8 JanI know I have a pot roast recipe in my book and it’s easy and blah, blah, blah. But I have to admit, this pot roast I made yesterday, well, it’s just… better. The recipe is over at KCFreePress.com, where I’m now editing the food page.

The Casserole Party is Coming to Kansas City!
31 Oct
Hey, Kansas Citians! The Casserole Party is coming to your town. Attended and loved by many, and featured in the The New York Times’ Urban Eye, New York Sun, the New York Post, Time Out New York, Gawker.com and Nerve.com, the Casserole Party is an annual casserole competition (and excuse to over indulge in baked deliciousness) organized and hosted by Emily Farris (that’s me!), author of “Casserole Crazy: Hot Stuff for Your Oven” (Penguin, 2008).
It will happen Monday, November 16 at 6 p.m. at Pryde’s Old Westport. Details regarding registration and attendance to come soon.
Fifth Annual Casserole Party Winners
21 Oct
Last night a Greenpoint coffee shop was transformed from a hipster hangout to a still-sort-of-hipstery-but-more-Midwestern cheesy wonderland for the Fifth Annual Casserole Party. There was duck, there was fish, there was pork, there were noodles and potatoes, and as usual, there was lots and lots and lots of cheese.

20 OctHey, you casserole lover. Thanks for visiting my blog and for your interest in the Fifth Annual Casserole Party happening tonight at Brooklyn Label, but I have some bad news for you: it’s not an open event. To get through the doors you either must be a close personal friend of mine, a member of the press or (here’s the good news) bake your own casserole and compete. But you still have hours to accomplish this. So get out your tuna and your noodles and bake what your mama gave you. But don’t forget to register first. Oh, and read the rules & regulations; I’m pretty strict.
