Late last night I realized that yesterday was the one-year anniversary of the pub date of my cookbook, “Casserole Crazy: Hot Stuff for Your Oven.” I can’t believe it’s been an entire year, but it presents the perfect opportunity to remind you that if you don’t yet have a copy now is the perfect time to get one. Not only is it full of easy, delicious casserole recipes—many of which can be made on the super cheap—I’ve been told it’s pretty damn funny.

So go here (or better yet, walk your sweet ass to your local independent bookstore) and get a copy… or two; it’s a great gift.

Crazy in Life, Not Just Casseroles

I’ve been terrible about updating this blog lately. And I apologize. I was just interviewing Rachel Kramer Bussel for SXSW World and though she has a full-time job and edits books, she manages to update Cupcakes Take the Cake at least six times a day. She is obviously doing something right that I am not.

Anyway, part of my craziness involves the fact that I’m planning a move to Kansas City in, oh, two days. I ran out of boxes and still have to pack my entire vintage Pyrex collection (save the green mixing bowl my friend broke when she was trying to be helpful by doing the dishes).

Part of the reason for the move is I need more mental and physical space to write, and well, I want a bigger kitchen.  I promise to update the blog more in the new year and I can’t wait to tell you all about the new book I’m working on, but I will—wait that is.

Baking in Baltimore

I’ll be at the Baltimore Book Festival this weekend. Come find me at the Food for Thought tent Sunday at 4:30. I’ll be cooking, sampling recipes and selling advance copies of my upcoming cookbook, “Casserole Crazy: Hot Stuff for Your Oven.” Oh, I’ll apparently also be talking for an hour and a half. Come ask me questions!

In case you don’t live in Baltimore or aren’t actively stalking me and didn’t listen to my first ever (book-related) radio interview online this morning, you can hear me on Baltimore’s 93.1 WPOC.

Over at Laurie DeYoung’s show, they’ve even set up a friendly little casserole competition.

While this was the first radio interview I’ve done for the book, I’ve gotten lots of great press so far, which can all be found on the press page of this here website.

Hopefully there’s more to come. Because I’m going to cry like a baby when I get my first bad review.

It’s true: my cookbook, Casserole Crazy: Hot Stuff For Your Oven! is now available for pre-order at Amazon.com. But do you know what’s even better? You can probably also pre-order it from your local, independent bookstore, and I know you can pre-order it from my local, independent bookstore (no matter where you are, they ship!), which I highly encourage you to do.

Or, you can do what (hopefully) millions of Americans will do, and buy it when it’s released on October 7.

However you do it, buy my book! Pretty please? With a layer of crusty cheese on top?

A Pork Belly Grows in Emily at The UnFancy Food Show

Yesterday I attended the UnFancy Food Show at the East River Bar in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. While I was there to help my friend Scott sell his books and hand out postcards for my upcoming cookbook, I had the good fortune of being positioned between the McClure Brothers, who make their own pickles, and the Mast Brothers, who make their own chocolate. Their samples were both abundant. And you’d think eating chocolate and pickles all day would have kept me from eating my weight in pork on a stick (is it a problem when one measures in skewers? “I had six skewers of pork!”), but it did not. I now have my own little pork belly. And I love it.

Portland Needs Some Casserole Crazy

Lately I’ve been throwing around the idea of moving to Portland, Oregon. I hate the winter, I love all things green and am not at all bothered by rain. So it’s quite a coincidence (or a sign, if you believe in such things) that the Mercury, one of Portland’s alternative weekly papers, mentioned Casserole Crazy in an article on The New Casserole. Even more coincidental, considering I’d set my sights on the Mercury as my Portland dream job.

Anyway, the article makes it very clear that Portland needs some Casserole Crazy and the author will definitely get a copy of my book when it comes out in October.
