It’s Almost Like You Were There: The Fourth Annual Casserole Party
November 15, 2008All Day I Dream About Le Creuset
November 6, 2008This is the grand prize for the Fourth Annual Casserole Party. Mind you, I don’t actually own one. I just cooed over this one at the Brooklyn Kitchen tonight. Yet again, you’ll have one and I won’t. Why, oh why, does the cookie crumble so?
Register for the Fourth Annual Casserole Party
October 13, 2008There’s a chill in the air and the economy sucks. It’s time for a casserole or 30.
The Casserole Party is an annual casserole competition, organized and hosted by “Casserole Crazy” author Emily Farris. A platform for Midwesterners (or anyone) to show off a hearty and comforting dish from childhood, it’s also it’s an excuse to over-indulge in baked delicousness.
The Fourth Casserole Party will be held Monday, November 10, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. at Brooklyn Label at 180 Franklin Street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

Whoa Oh, Oh, Oh… On the Radio
September 22, 2008In case you don’t live in Baltimore or aren’t actively stalking me and didn’t listen to my first ever (book-related) radio interview online this morning, you can hear me on Baltimore’s 93.1 WPOC.
Over at Laurie DeYoung’s show, they’ve even set up a friendly little casserole competition.
While this was the first radio interview I’ve done for the book, I’ve gotten lots of great press so far, which can all be found on the press page of this here website.
Hopefully there’s more to come. Because I’m going to cry like a baby when I get my first bad review.
The Third Annual Casserole Party in the News
October 18, 2007Some great press so far for the Third Annual Casserole Party (pay no attention to those meany Gawker commenters).

Casserole Party Results
October 17, 2007My feet are recovering from the Third Annual Casserole Party (I wore heels, totally worth it though) and my belly is finally settling. The entries were (for the most part) amazing and everyone seemed to leave fat and happy.
Congratulations to the winners:
- Grand Prize: Team Cheese Love, Zach Schulman and Graham Kelly (”The broiler” and “lots of cheese” were key to their win, according to these guys.)
- Best Meaty: Team Practically Perfect Pairing, Joanne Phoa and Ben Hagen (I’m not exactly sure what was in it, but there were green things, and it was great)
- Best Vegetarian: Team Combo Platter, Karol Lu (made me like eggplant!)
- Best Crust: Again, Team Cheese Love, Zach Schulman & Graham Kelly
- Best Non-Savory: Kockeputzi (I could not pronounce this for the life of me), Lacey Tauber and Brian Tooze, for a wonderfully sweet kugel.
Extra special thanks to our sponsors Brooklyn Label, The Brooklyn Kitchen, WORD, our judges Ruth Graham, Miriam Garron and Adam Roberts, and our entertainment Andrew Schmidt and Sammo.
More coherent prose and pictures to follow when I’m not so exhausted.

The Prizes are Rolling In
September 21, 2007Just got word from the prize sponsor for the Third Annual Casserole Party, the Brooklyn Kitchen, that the first place prize has arrived: A flame 7.25 Qt LE CREUSET Dutch Oven, a $235 value! So in addition to having your recipe placed on the Brooklyn Label menu for a month, and appearing in my upcoming casserole cookbook, you’ll get this amazing piece of oven wear that I can only dream about and could never afford.
